EXPLORING THE VAL DI CECINA

The Val di Cecina has a hilly area rich in waterways and with an incredible landscape value . Here, surrounded by Mediterranean nature, there are numerous historic villages of ancient Roman, Etruscan or medieval origin. Along the course of the river Cecina large and small communities meet in total harmony with nature.

Within about 40 km from Camping Le Tamerici you can visit the villages of Volterra , Montecatini Val di Cecina , Miemo , Guardistallo , Montescudaio and many other small towns.
These are settlements of ancient origin which, remaining confined to the margins of the major trade routes, have preserved their original urban structure intact. The historic core of these towns is today a priceless heritage of great cultural and artistic value.

There are palaces, churches and buildings dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, squares and narrow stone-paved alleys. A walk along the streets of the historic villages of the Val di Cecina is a very suggestive adventure. It is also an opportunity to taste the typical dishes of the Tuscan countryside , recipes that are poor in peasant tradition but still tasty and genuine. The agricultural products used in the kitchen come from the Mediterranean fields and groves that surround the villages.
