Abbazia di San Galgano

Famous throughout the world, the Abbey of San Galgano is a Cistercian abbey located in the municipality of Chiusdino not far from Siena. The area consists of a hermitage called Rotonda di Montesiepi and the large, unique and particular abbey. It is a large building in ruins, no longer roofed, a destination for important tourism. The sensations that you get from the visit are very particular: the beauty of the surrounding area combined with the magnificence of the structure and the particular play of light that the sun gives during the day, make the visit unique and very suggestive. At the Rotonda di Montesiepi, a few minutes’ walk away, there is a sword in the stone whose story is lost over the centuries.
