Cecina Archaeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum of Cecina offers its public a fantastic immersive journey through the history of the ancient eras of Cecina.

The museum, open since 2003, deals with all the historical periods of the territory starting even from the prehistoric era, continuing for the Etruscan epochs and the novels; for the Middle Ages to the most modern times to the most recent finds.

In the beautiful garden of the museum it is possible to find a monumental tomb called “La tomba di casaglia“, a historical piece renovated during the 7th century, marking the end of the museum’s itinerary.

Another area of ??the museum that is really worth seeing is the archaeological park of the villa Romana of San Vincenzino, located a few kilometers from the archaeological museum.

In this archaeological area it is possible to see the remains of important Etruscan villas such as the one organized in the Roman era of Augustus, one of the largest Etruscan villas can be built, abandoned during the 5th century AD.
